Rosh Hashanah

This year we will again be holding our Rosh Hashanah, Kol Nidre and Yom Kippur services at a special holiday location.  We will be meeting at the Brio Escape, 230 W. Clubhouse Dr., Washington. We’re pretty excited about it and masks are optional.

Rosh Hashanah commemorates the creation of the world and marks the beginning of the Days of Awe, a 10-day period of introspection and repentance that culminates in the Yom Kippur holiday, also known as the Day of Atonement.  Rosh Hashanah is not mentioned in the Torah, though the holiday was likely well established by the sixth century B.C., the phrase “Rosh Hashanah” shows up for the first time in the Mishna, a code of law compiled in 200 A.D.
