Hanukkah
December 8, 2023 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
In 167 BCE, the Maccabees led a band of Jews in a successful battle against the occupying Syrian-Greeks, who had desecrated the Second Temple’s eternal light. Miraculously, one day’s supply of oil lasted eight days, until more could be found. The Chanukah menorah is lit for eight nights to celebrate that miracle. Among the many Hanukkah traditions, children play dreidel and foods fried in oil are customary.
Come join Beit Chaverim for a Chanukah latke party following the in person Friday Shabbat service on 12/8/23. The service will start at 7:00 pm as usual followed by latkes and dessert. The service and party will be held at The Escape at Brio, 230 W Brio Clubhouse Dr. Washington, UT Zoom will be available as usual.
If you are a latke maker, we invite you to bring some to share. Beit Chaverim will supply the applesauce & sour cream. If you’re more of a dessert person, enter our Chanukah cookie contest. We will have prizes for the top two winners. Please RSVP if attending to secretary@beitchaverimutah.com. Let us know if you wish to bring latkes or dessert; also if you are participating in the cookie contest. Bring your menorah, candles & matches from home.
