From The Rabbi’s Study… Shabbat, March 15, 2024/ 5 Adar II, 5784
This Shabbat will be the concluding chapters from the Book of Exodus.
A description of the records kept of all the work and materials used in the construction of the tabernacle, as well as all the donations by the Israelites. Moses and the Israelites celebrate the completion of the tabernacle by anointing it. G-d’s Presence fills the tabernacle and leads the people throughout their journeys.
Our Torah never ceases to amaze me and others with its concepts and values especially in this Torah parsha/portion of attention to “accountability of public officials”. There was clearly emphasis on morals and ethics of those in leadership and their responsibility to the people. Today, too many of us view public leaders that appear to have been found to violate their oaths and the trust of the people they represent. Judaism maintains that public individuals should and must be above suspicion. Handling of the people’s money demands careful oversight and scrutiny. Even Moses was held to a higher ethical standard!
We have finished the Book of Shemot/ Exodus which contains:
1209 verses, 40 chapters 11 sidrot
We chant Hazak, Hazak V’Nitzhazak/ Strength, Strength, and Together We Are Stronger!
We continue to pray for our 140 plus Hostages. It is now over 5 months. We continue to pray for peace throughout our country and the world.
We are now using our new siddur. Kol Kavod to the Ritual Committee, Ellen Margles and Evan Sanders, and all those that recited prayers to enhance the spiritual essence of the Sabbath!
Purim is coming! The delicious smell from Jewish kitchens is from Hamentashen baking!
Shabbat Shalom,
Rabbi Helene Ainbinder
